Perfect location to spend time out of the crowd, Amed is located in the north-east part of Bali, neighbour to Tulamben. A fishing village with chilling environment and authentic culture, Amed has nice opportunity for diving with its beautiful seabed and coral reefs. Here the water is warm and the conditions are calm offering good dive sites easy to navigate for all type of divers and also snorkeling is very popular here. On the black volcanic sand hides many tiny little creatures, a paradise for photographers. Usually we do 2 dives from the beach and we will be based in a local restaurant. To reach the dive sites we use a local boat and between the dives we go back to the shore for taking a rest and enjoying the quiet and beautiful view.
10 minutes with the local wooden boat called Jukung and we arrive at the dive site. As the name tells here you can find many artificial pyramids built up by concrete blocks. With their structure on the seabed between 10-25m deep, they give home to an abundant of marine life like titan triggerfish, trumpet fish and nudibranch. Here is not uncommon to find species that blends in with the environment like frog fish and scorpion leaf fish. Between the pyramids you can see groups of blue spotted stingrays laying on the sand and turtles that try to catch up. Continuing along the bottom you will see a gently sloping wall in which you can find many other types of tropical fish.
Jemeluk Wall/Amed Wall
From the restaurant looking east we can see the edge of the bay that is our dive site, but don’t worry we’ll take you there by boat. Once we are anchored to the buoy and everything is set up, the first thing you will see are massive gorgonians that with their vibrant color dominates the scenery here. You will get to the wall that drops down to 40m and you will encounter an abundance of species like angelfish, puffer fish, ghost pipefish and look especially in the cracks of the rocks as many things are hiding there curious about who is passing by. By looking into the blue sometimes if you’re lucky you can see the shadows of some reef sharks that are hunting in the deep. On the way back we will do the safety stop at the mooring line of our boat and when we surface the crew will help you to take off the gear.
